Governor Fubara Dissolves Cabinet, Dismisses All Commissioners After Supreme Court Ruling
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has ordered the immediate dismissal of all commissioners and public officers serving under his administration.
The decision was announced in Port Harcourt through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi. According to the statement, the move follows the recent Supreme Court judgment that directly impacted his government.
During a valedictory session with his outgoing cabinet at the Government House, Governor Fubara expressed deep gratitude to his team for their service and contributions to the state over the past two years. He praised their role in driving key development projects and commended their dedication to governance.
Marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the governor urged citizens to unite behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in building a peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation.
“The governor highlighted the importance of Independence Day and called on Nigerians to work with Mr. President to ensure a brighter future for all,” the statement read.
Governor Fubara assured Rivers people of his renewed commitment to serve with greater energy and thanked residents for their unwavering support.
The mass sack ends weeks of speculation about the fate of his appointees, which had remained uncertain since Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) temporarily led the state as interim administrator. During his tenure, Ibas had already suspended commissioners, advisers, assistants, and dissolved state boards.
With this latest decision, all commissioners and public officers in Rivers State have now been officially relieved of their duties.
