Governor Kefas’ APC reception moved to January due to year-end calendar

The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the formal reception of Governor Agbu Kefas into the party will now be held in January, following his prior admission at the ward level.

Initially scheduled for November 19, 2025, the event was deferred due to recent security concerns after the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State. Ibrahim El-Suldi, Taraba APC Chairman, told journalists on Sunday that holding a political event amid national security crises would have been inappropriate.

El-Suldi further explained that the busy December calendar with end-of-year festivities and holiday preparations made January a more suitable period for the official ceremony.

“The governor has completed all necessary steps for party membership,” El-Suldi stated. “He wrote to his ward executives, and they have duly received him. Governor Kefas is now a bona fide member of the APC.”

He added that 15 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, along with the entire state executive council, have already joined the ruling party, calling it a “natural realignment” of key stakeholders.

“The leadership has agreed that January is the best time for the formal reception. Once a date is set, it will be communicated to the public,” El-Suldi concluded.
