Govs Otti, Eno collaborate to improve Abia–Akwa Ibom link roads

The governors of Abia and Akwa Ibom States, Dr. Alex Otti and Pastor Umo Eno, have agreed to collaborate on repairing critical roads connecting their states to improve accessibility and strengthen economic ties between their communities.

In a statement released yesterday in Uyo, the understanding was reached during Dr. Otti’s condolence visit to Governor Eno at Government House, Uyo, following the passing of Eno’s wife, Patience Umo Eno.

Governor Eno expressed appreciation for Otti’s support, noting that his late wife left enduring legacies during her life. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with Abia State to expedite federal intervention on the Ikot Ekpene-Aba road and repair the deteriorated sections of the Ini-Arochukwu road.

“For the road you mentioned, if there are others where our states can collaborate, we’re ready to partner on that,” Eno said. “Ultimately, it is our people who will benefit from improved access. Aba remains a key commercial hub for the region, and we’ll do what we can to ensure smooth travel to and from the area.”

On the loss of his wife, Governor Eno reflected, “Losing my wife is a lifetime loss. We courted for two years and were married for 38 years. Forty years together is not something easily forgotten—it feels like part of me is gone. She was an accomplished woman, deeply involved in our ministry and in building families.”

Earlier, Dr. Alex Otti offered condolences, praying for God’s comfort for the bereaved family, and acknowledged the late First Lady’s impactful legacy. He described her passing as a profound loss and commended Governor Eno on his visible achievements in Akwa Ibom, encouraging him to continue his people-centered initiatives.

In related news, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Mohammed Maidugu, also visited the Government House in Uyo to convey condolences from the Nigerian High Commission in London on the passing of the First Lady in the UK.
