Heartbreak as Tika The Iggy, Celebrity Dog, Passes at 14
Tika the Iggy, the beloved celebrity dog, has passed away at the age of 14. The news of her death was shared by her owner, Thomas Shapiro, who recounted the pet’s final days online.
According to Shapiro, Tika had been diagnosed with liver tumors and underwent surgery to remove them. While the operation was initially successful, Tika’s condition changed shortly after returning home.
“We discovered that you had two tumors in your liver. It was hard to believe because you were still so full of life—jumping, running, and enjoying every moment as usual,” Shapiro wrote. “Following the advice of your amazing vets, we proceeded with surgery to remove the tumors.”
The surgery went well, and Tika was discharged without complications. She even enjoyed her favorite meal, “chickunz,” during her first night at home. However, on her second day, she seemed fatigued and not quite herself.
Tika spent her final moments surrounded by her family, held by her beloved dads. Shapiro expressed the family’s grief while also highlighting the joy Tika brought into their lives.
“You were supposed to enjoy your golden years. We just hope you knew how deeply you were loved—not only by us but also by everyone who had the chance to meet you. You were larger than life, full of love, and adored by all,” Shapiro shared.
Tika’s passing has left a profound sense of loss, but her family is grateful she was surrounded by love in her final moments.
