Hilda Baci Makes History Again with Second Guinness World Record
Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has once again made history as Guinness World Records officially recognized her for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The confirmation follows her successful cookout event held in Lagos in September, where she and her team prepared an incredible 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of the beloved West African dish. This new plaque marks Hilda’s second Guinness World Record, coming after her globally celebrated 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon in May 2023.
With this latest achievement, Hilda Baci becomes the first Nigerian chef to hold two Guinness World Record titles a milestone that cements her status as one of Africa’s most inspiring culinary figures.
Reacting to the news, Baci expressed deep gratitude and fulfillment. She described both records as symbols of faith, perseverance, and teamwork, saying they prove that “when passion meets purpose, nothing is impossible.” She also extended her appreciation to Gino, the brand partner that supported her throughout the project, and to all Nigerians who cheered her on during the event.
The cookout, which attracted millions of viewers worldwide, not only showcased Nigeria’s rich food culture but also celebrated creativity, unity, and resilience through cuisine.
Following the announcement, Nigerians flooded social media with congratulatory messages, praising Hilda for making the nation proud and serving as an inspiration to young chefs and entrepreneurs across the continent.
