Hilda Baci Reveals Amount of Ingredients for World’s Largest Jollof Rice
The massive scale of ingredients needed to cook the world’s largest jollof rice, spearheaded by record-holding chef Hilda Baci, has emerged as excitement builds ahead of the Guinness World Record attempt.
The event kicked off on Friday at Eko Hotels with the cleaning of a 22,619-litre pot, measuring roughly 6 meters in diameter, specifically constructed for the cook-off.
video circulating on social media showcased the sheer volume of ingredients set aside for the jollof rice. These include sacks of pepper, tomatoes, onions, kegs of vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato purée, and more—all in enormous quantities.
The scale of the cook-off necessitates a large team to manage tasks such as unwrapping seasoning cubes, washing and sorting vegetables, and dicing onions, ensuring the process runs smoothly.
Hilda’s enormous pot is designed to cook enough rice to serve roughly 10,000 people. The chef intends to use 250 bags of rice, aiming to fill the giant pot to about 80% capacity.
Beyond breaking a world record, the event is meant to combine a culinary spectacle with community service. The cooked jollof rice will be shared with attendees and donated to charitable causes.
