Hon. Atu Condemns the Murder of Igbo-Jah, Awards Scholarships to His Children
Promises to follow the case to a logical conclusion
The member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has condemned the gruesome murder of Enugu-born and based Ogene Music maestro, Mr. Okezie Mbah, popularly known as Igbo-Jah.
Hon. Atu, who paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased on Sunday, described the incidents that led to the death of Igbo-Jah as “shocking and devastating.”
He stated that the stories are not straightforward, as they are “shrouded and encased in controversial circumstances.” He added, “This act of violence is a terrible stain on our community. Losing a cultural icon like Igbo-Jah in such a brutal way is beyond heartbreaking. We must all come together to demand answers and ensure that his death does not go unanswered.”
“There is too much uncertainty surrounding the events leading up to this tragedy, and it is vital that we get to the bottom of it. The family, Ogui community, Enugu State, entertainment industry, Nigeria, and the whole world deserve to know the truth.”
The lawmaker also pledged to follow the case to a logical conclusion, adding that unprofessional conduct by some security agency personnel has to be curbed before they “waste the lives of more innocent citizens.”
“We cannot allow a few individuals within our security agencies to abuse their power. It is imperative that those responsible are held accountable, and steps are taken to prevent future tragedies like this.”
He also awarded scholarships to two of the deceased’s children, while urging all to maintain peace and allow the security agencies and others to do their part and get justice on the matter.
“I urge everyone to remain calm and allow the appropriate authorities to carry out their investigations. Let us respect the process and focus on honoring Igbo-Jah’s legacy through our support for his family,” he said.
