“I Was Trapped for Seven Years — Regina Daniels Opens Up on Struggles with Ned Nwoko”
Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has spoken candidly about her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, revealing how her mother’s influence kept her in the union for seven years despite ongoing challenges.
In a heartfelt post shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the actress addressed long-standing misconceptions surrounding her relationship, clarifying that she was never forced into the marriage as many believed.
Regina explained that her family initially opposed her decision to marry the 64-year-old lawmaker, but she followed her heart against their advice.
“For seven years, my mum held me down. She tried, but I have a coconut head,” she admitted. “I’m ashamed to say I fell in love, but I actually did, and it’s crazy. Everyone said no.”
The actress, who recently accused Nwoko of domestic violence, expressed regret over her decision and pleaded with Nigerians to stop attacking her mother online.
“You all should stop saying that I married out of greed. We were not broke. What amount of money can a man give a mother to get her child who was already providing everything at home?” she wrote.
Regina went on to reveal that her love for Ned once drove her to a dark point. “My mother, my brother, and everybody warned me. One night, I drove out, trying to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned,” she confessed.
