“I Went Blind, Then Lost My Baby”: Nigerian Woman Shares Heartbreaking Pregnancy Experience on TikTok

A Nigerian woman, known on TikTok as @mrs.temishe, has shared a harrowing personal story that has left social media users shocked and heartbroken.

In a now-viral video, she recounted how complications during her third pregnancy not only led to temporary blindness but ultimately to the loss of her unborn child a tragedy she attributes to medical negligence and the poor state of healthcare facilities in Nigeria.

According to Temishe, her ordeal began when she was admitted to the hospital due to dangerously high blood sugar levels. While receiving care, she started experiencing excruciating migraines and sharp pain around her right eye, symptoms that progressively worsened.

“I lost my sense of smell, and I couldn’t perceive anything again. I knew something was wrong, but nobody took it seriously until it got worse.”

She was referred to an eye clinic and eventually scheduled for surgery. But upon entering the operating room, she was alarmed by the condition of the facility.

“I saw a generator inside the theatre. That was when I knew things were really bad.”

Although she was discharged after surgery, her health deteriorated further. She started bleeding and had to be rushed back to the original hospital. Tragically, she was informed that her baby’s heartbeat had stopped.

Temishe later found out that the temporary blindness she suffered was linked to a pregnancy-related hormonal imbalance a condition that could have been managed if detected and treated early.

Her story has sparked widespread sympathy and renewed outrage over Nigeria’s failing healthcare system. Many viewers, especially women, took to the comment section to share their fears and similar experiences.
