“I Won’t Be Intimidated” — Peter Obi Defies Governor Okpebholo’s Threats, Vows to Keep Supporting Nigerians

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has responded firmly to a warning allegedly issued by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, concerning his safety if he visits the state. Obi declared that he will not be deterred by threats and remains committed to visiting any part of Nigeria to invest in the lives of the people.

Speaking in Awka, Anambra State, Obi brushed off concerns raised by Governor Okpebholo, asserting that receiving threats has become a daily reality for him. “Threats mean nothing to me,” Obi said. “I receive them every day. The only difference is that some become public. But I will not be afraid.”

He emphasized that his mission to empower communities through education and health initiatives will not be halted by political intimidation. “If I have the opportunity to go to Benin and make donations again, trust me, I will,” he said.

Obi criticized the governor’s stance, saying instead of issuing threats, Governor Okpebholo should have supported the development projects he initiated in the state. “He should be sincerely grateful. I went to Benin to invest in people better doctors, better nurses, and ultimately, a better life for the people,” Obi added.

The former governor made these remarks shortly after visiting Christ the King College (CKC) in Onitsha, where he and fellow alumni donated ₦50 million toward the construction of new staff quarters and administrative buildings.

“I say it every day: those with honest, verifiable sources of income should invest in education, health, and society not steal and donate stolen wealth,” Obi said.

He further revealed he would continue touring schools across Nigeria in the coming days to support education-related causes.

Obi’s bold response and philanthropic acts have been widely praised by supporters who commend his consistency in promoting education and human development regardless of political tensions.
