“Ifeanyi Ejiofor Warns: Nnamdi Kanu Appeal Without Political Backing is ‘Dead on Arrival’”

The lawyer representing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has cautioned that any hurried appeal against Nnamdi Kanu’s life sentence risks failure without strategic political alignment and high-level coordination.

Ejiofor shared the warning in a detailed letter posted on his X account on Monday, emphasizing that careful planning not public theatrics must guide every move regarding Kanu’s legal battle.

He noted that growing emotions, misinformation, and loud public statements were distracting supporters from the complex realities of the case, which involve law, politics, diplomacy, and public opinion.

According to Ejiofor, a critical first step is a coordinated intervention by influential Igbo political leaders, senior legal experts, and respected figures capable of engaging meaningfully with the Federal Government. For strategic reasons, he did not disclose specific names but highlighted the need for individuals with credibility, integrity, and national influence.

Once political alignment is secured, Ejiofor said a strong legal team of internationally recognized experts should lead any appeals, ensuring the process is executed with precision and authority.
