By Ikechukwu Ezema
The Executive Chairman of Igbo Eze South Local Government Area, Hon. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has appointed a nine-member committee to evaluate and document the assets of the local government area.
Hon. Ukwueze, who took the oath of office along with the other 16 elected Council chairmen in the state on September 30, 2024, said the task is very imperative to enable his new administration to have adequate information on the assets and liabilities of Igbo Eze South Local Government Council.
The nine-member committee is headed by Sir Bona C. Ugwuja, while Hon. Okey Ukwueze will serve as secretary.
Other members of the committee are Prof. Ngozi Eze, Ugwoke S. Ejiofor, Chief Patrick Onah, Zaccheaus Ukwueze, Tony Odoh, Comrade Onah Cletus, and Uchenna C. Nnadi.
The committee was given two weeks to complete the task.
A press statement to that effect, which emanated from his office and was signed by the chairman himself, reads:
“Sequel to my desire to take off leadership of Igbo Eze South on a very good note backed with adequate information on the assets and liabilities of the council, I hereby appoint the following names to serve in my Assets Valuation and Documentation Committee to avail my administration with detailed information on the true state of the Council and its assets.”
He tasked the committee to also furnish his administration with the current state of the Council’s vehicles, lands, buildings, revenue-generating points, and other properties.
Hon. Ukwueze described the initiative as part of his commitment to enhance transparency and accountability in his administration, as stressed in his campaign mantra, tagged “Progress Agenda.”
“It’s worthy to note that local government councils play vital roles in rural development; hence, efforts to ensure we are fully acquainted with all we have in the council is germane,” the Chairman stated.
