Increasing Tensions in GAC as Member Criticizes Lawmakers

The ousting of former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has further divided the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the top advisory body.

Disagreements among GAC members had already emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding Obasa’s removal.

In a statement released on Tuesday, GAC member Chief Muraina Akanbi Taiwo from Isolo Constituency criticized Assembly members for reconvening during the recess.

Views within the GAC, including those from former Minister of Defence (State) Senator Musliu Obanikoro and Senator Anthony Adefuye, diverged regarding the contentious former Speaker.

While Adefuye claimed that Obasa’s removal was unlawful, Obanikoro responded, labeling Adefuye’s remarks as “careless.”

GAC secretary, Mr. Mutiu Are, referred to the situation as a family matter that would be resolved among themselves. Obanikoro also challenged Adefuye’s statement supporting Obasa.
