INEC CVR Portal Records Over 26,000 Visits on First Day

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded over 26,000 visits to its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal just hours after the nationwide exercise commenced on Monday.

As of 12:35 p.m., the number of hits on the CVR platform, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, had risen to 26,255.

According to the commission via its official X handle on Monday:
“Hits on the Continuous Voter Registration portal (cvr.inecnigeria.org) climb to 26,255 as at 12.35 p.m. today, Monday 18th August 2025. Register Now.”

INEC announced that in-person registration will take place at all 37 state offices and 774 local government area offices nationwide to ensure accessibility for prospective voters.

While the online pre-registration is now live, the physical registration phase is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025, across the country.

The commission clarified that the CVR is open to Nigerians who have turned 18 and have never registered, as well as those seeking to update their voter details, transfer voting locations, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“The CVR exercise is open to new voters aged 18 and above, those who wish to collect or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards, and individuals who need to replace lost or damaged PVCs,” INEC said.

It further warned against multiple registrations, stressing that offenders risk legal consequences.

Encouraging mass participation, INEC urged citizens to take advantage of the opportunity and provided support channels via its call centre 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) and short code 4632.

Reaffirming its commitment, the commission said it remains dedicated to consolidating democracy and ensuring that every eligible Nigerian is able to register ahead of upcoming elections.
