Iran Executes Three Over Alleged Espionage and Plot Against Senior Military Official
The Iranian government has executed three men accused of working with Israeli intelligence to plan the assassination of a senior member of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to reports by Iranian state media, the executed individuals were allegedly linked to Israel’s Mossad and were convicted of espionage and conspiring to carry out a deadly attack on a top IRGC commander. The plot was reportedly foiled before it could be executed.
The judiciary claimed the men received financial support and training from foreign agents and had been monitored for months before their arrest. Their trial, held behind closed doors, ended with a death sentence approved by the Iranian Supreme Court.
This execution comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Iran accusing Israel of increasing covert operations on its soil.
Human rights groups have expressed concern over the fairness of the trial and the use of capital punishment, citing Iran’s long-standing record of using the death penalty in politically sensitive cases.
The Iranian government maintains that the executions are a necessary step to safeguard national security and deter future threats from foreign intelligence agencies.
