Israel’s Security Cabinet Approves Plan to Occupy Gaza City Amid Global Concern
China has expressed grave concern over Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza City urging an immediate halt to what it called “dangerous actions.”
A spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry emphasized that Gaza is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory and called for an immediate ceasefire to ease the humanitarian crisis and secure the release of hostages.
Beijing reaffirmed its willingness to collaborate with the international community to help end the fighting as soon as possible.
The statement comes after Israel’s security cabinet approved a strategy to seize control of Gaza City the most populous area of the Gaza Strip, as part of an intensified military campaign against Hamas.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the military would prepare to take control while simultaneously distributing humanitarian aid outside combat zones.
While Israel claims the occupation is aimed at defeating Hamas and reclaiming hostages the plan has sparked widespread international criticism and concern over potential humanitarian repercussions.
Belgium and other nations have also drawn diplomatic attention to the situation with global calls increasing for de-escalation and protection of civilians in Gaza amid fears of worsening famine and displacement as the conflict approaches its two-year mark.
The international community remains deeply divided over the escalation with the United Nations warning that a full military takeover could have catastrophic consequences for Palestinian civilians and jeopardize hostages’ safety.
China’s vocal opposition highlights growing global unease and the urgency for diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and sustainable peace in the region.
This intensifying crisis underscores the complex challenges in achieving a resolution to the Gaza conflict with diplomatic efforts involving multiple nations aiming to prevent further humanitarian disaster.
