“It Breaks My Heart That I Won’t Be Performing Anywhere This December” – Rema Reveals

Renowned Nigerian Afrobeats artist, Rema, has made the decision to withdraw from all his planned shows for the remainder of 2023 in order to prioritize his well-being and health.

Throughout this year, the talented singer-songwriter has achieved remarkable milestones and surpassed expectations, notably highlighted by his unforgettable headline performance at the esteemed O2 Arena on November 14.

Regrettably, fans anticipating a joyous and energetic celebration with Rema during the upcoming festive season will need to exercise patience until next year, as he takes the necessary time to recuperate and restore his vitality.

He said;

“Breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December. (It’s) been years of touring (and) I’ve ignored my health. I need time to recuperate. 2024, we go again,” he posted on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Rema recently unveiled the captivating title and the underlying inspiration for his highly anticipated concert at the O2 Arena. The headline attraction of this extraordinary event has been named “Ravage Uprising.”

This significant announcement has had an immediate impact on Rema’s forthcoming homecoming tour in Abuja, Lagos, and his native Benin in December, after the resounding success of his previous tours across Europe, Asia, and North America.

The decision to cancel his shows stems from the remarkable milestones achieved by his sensational track, “Calm Down,” which has carved its place in chart history on both Apple Music and Spotify.

Notably, this megahit has secured the 12th spot among the global top 100 most streamed songs on Apple Music over the past year, earning the distinction of being the highest-ranking African song ever featured on the chart.

“Calm Down” has achieved an exceptional eighth position on Spotify’s top 10 chart of the most streamed tracks worldwide, marking the first time a Nigerian Afrobeats artist has attained such recognition on this prestigious platform.
