“It’s All for Clout” – Kehinde Ajose Slams Portable and VeryDarkMan Over Public Drama
Media entrepreneur and author Kehinde Ajose has openly criticized controversial singer Portable and outspoken social media figure VeryDarkMan (VDM), accusing both of deliberately creating online drama for attention.
Ajose described the two public figures as “chronic clout chasers” who thrive on controversy to stay relevant, rather than focusing on building credibility through their craft.
“Yes, VDM started on a good note, but most of what he does these days is pure clout chasing. He knows attention is currency and deliberately seeks out issues that will keep him in the spotlight,” she said.
She continued by drawing parallels between VDM and Portable, stating that while the singer may have musical talent, he is more widely known for controversy than for his songs.
“The same applies to Portable. He is far more famous for his antics than his music. They both rely on drama, not talent, to stay in the news,” Ajose added.
Referring to the current feud between Portable and VDM, Ajose described it as a “staged spectacle” aimed at generating social media buzz, not genuine artistic rivalry.
“This isn’t about art or growth. It’s performance for engagement. Their brands are built on outrage, which is a volatile and unsustainable model,” she noted.
Ajose warned that while drama may attract temporary attention, audiences eventually tire of empty controversies.
“The real challenge for people like them is to evolve from being famous for being loud to being respected for real skill. Right now, this feud is just noise that distracts from any meaningful craft.”
