“It’s Depressing Seeing Nigerians Still Divided by Tribe and Religion” — Falz Laments

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has expressed deep concern over the persistent tribal and religious divisions that continue to polarize Nigerians.

Responding to a post by fellow artist Nasboi, who urged citizens to unite beyond ethnic and religious lines, Falz said it was heartbreaking to see how politicians still exploit these sentiments to divide the people.

Nasboi had earlier shared a post lamenting Nigeria’s silence in the face of corruption, writing:

“We’ve really kept quiet in this country. Stories like ‘snake swallowing money’ still make no sense. Politicians keep stealing what they can never finish. It’s time to put tribe and religion aside and put Nigeria first.”

Reacting, Falz wrote:

“I cannot begin to explain how depressing it’s been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other. At some point, we need to start thinking for ourselves.”

His statement comes amid heated debates on social media between Christian and Muslim youths, following reports of U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly threatening military action against Nigeria over attacks on Christians by extremists.

Falz’s comment has since sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians agreeing that unity is the only way the nation can move forward.
