“I’ve Outgrown It” – Shaffy Bello Opens Up About Dating Younger Men
Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has opened up about her past romantic choices, revealing she’s no longer interested in dating younger men.
Speaking on the Dear Ife podcast, the 54-year-old star described her experience dating younger men as “a phase” that has now passed. She emphasized that it was not a mistake but simply a season of her life.
“There is no need for me to date a younger man. I have dated a younger man and don’t want to do it again. What I want now is different,” she stated.
According to the stylish actress, dating younger men was fun while it lasted, but she’s moved on to seeking something more meaningful.
“When I dated a younger man, I was having fun. It was for a season, and the season is over. But there is nothing wrong with it.”
Shaffy also revealed that her social media inbox still attracts a lot of admirers—both young and older men but she’s no longer impressed by empty compliments or poor etiquette.
“Men slide into my DM. Over 50 and even younger men. It’s flattering, but some of them are badly behaved. Some will tell me ‘Hi dear’.”
Now more focused on intentional relationships, Shaffy Bello said she is open to the idea of marriage again, but not in the conventional sense. She stressed that people are often too rigid when it comes to the institution of marriage.
“What I want now is marriage; I don’t mind marriage. But I have a different opinion when it comes to marriage. I think a lot of people are rigid when it comes to marriage.”
Known for her grace and authenticity, Bello continues to redefine what it means to age beautifully in the spotlight on her own terms.
