Iyabo Ojo Denies Accusations in Mohbad Case, Speaks Out on Cyberbullying and Death Threats

Nollywood actress and activist Iyabo Ojo has publicly addressed the intense backlash and threats she has faced over her involvement in the campaign for justice for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

In a detailed statement shared on her Instagram page, Ojo clarified that her previous remarks were misinterpreted and never intended to directly accuse anyone of being responsible for Mohbad’s death. She explained that her activism was focused solely on advocating for a thorough and independent investigation.

According to Ojo, she and her NGO, Pinkies Foundation, wrote to several government authorities including the Governor, Attorney General, and Police Commissioners requesting an impartial inquiry and coroner’s inquest into the singer’s death. She also met with top police officials and members of the Lagos State House of Assembly to push for accountability.

Despite her efforts, Ojo revealed that she has been subjected to cyberbullying, threats, and harassment. She disclosed that she received a threatening letter just days before her daughter’s wedding, warning of danger within the next three months. Since then, she claims to have seen disturbing videos and even mock coffins inscribed with her name.

Additionally, Ojo confirmed that she was recently invited by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre over a previous live video. She reiterated that she would continue to honor any further invitations and cooperate with authorities.

“My comments were a call for transparency and justice not allegations. I have never obstructed police work or accused any individual. Every move I’ve made has been through legal and advocacy channels,” Ojo stated.

She also addressed the toll these events have taken on her mental and emotional well-being, revealing that her office was recently gutted by fire and that she is currently prioritizing her health.

In closing, the actress expressed gratitude to the police and her supporters across different backgrounds, adding that despite the challenges, she remains committed to the cause of justice.
