Izzy Ogbeide Sparks Controversy: ‘Children Are Not From God, They’re an Expensive Subscription

Controversial content creator Izzy Ogbeide has stirred strong reactions online after a video of her claiming that children are neither blessings nor gifts from God went viral.

In the clip, the mother of three described children as “an expensive subscription”, insisting that they are a product of parental effort rather than divine blessing.

Ogbeide explained that while children are often called blessings, the reality of raising them involves immense financial, emotional, and personal sacrifice.

She emphasized that many parents underestimate the cost and effort required to provide for their children. According to her, children are created through parents’ dedication and work, not handed down as gifts from God.

Ogbeide highlighted everyday expenses like schooling, extracurricular activities, and basic needs, arguing that some parents even struggle to feed their children. She said:

“Children are not blessings, and they are not from God. Children are from you, not God. They are an expensive subscription you can’t return or cancel. They are what you make they come from your hard work, not from God. What comes from God is something you don’t merit or work for. Children bring responsibility, stress, and bills. If children were truly from God, parents would be blessed to care for them properly without struggling.”

Her remarks quickly drew mixed reactions online. Some criticized her for being insensitive and dismissive of religious beliefs, while others supported her perspective, agreeing that she highlighted the practical challenges of parenting.

Whether viewers agree or disagree, the video has sparked a nationwide conversation on the realities and responsibilities of raising children.
