JAMB extends admission deadline for public universities to November 17
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for admissions into public universities across Nigeria.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter) dated November 2, 2025, JAMB disclosed that the initial deadline of October 31, 2025, has been moved forward to November 17, 2025.
The decision followed several appeals and a court order instructing that the status quo be maintained regarding the 2025/2026 admission process.
The board explained that the extension was granted due to emergent and compelling circumstances affecting some institutions. It also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes wider access to higher education for Nigerian students.
JAMB reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring a transparent and credible admission process that supports institutional autonomy and upholds national education standards.
It, however, stressed that the new deadline is final and must be strictly adhered to by all public universities.
In its words, “While expressing appreciation to all institutions for their efforts in meeting the initial target date, the board wishes to emphasize that the new deadline is final and should be strictly observed.
JAMB remains committed to ensuring a seamless, transparent, and credible admission process.”
