Jay-Z’s Alleged Son Rymir Satterthwaite Withdraws Lawsuit, Vows to Continue Paternity Fight

Rymir Satterthwaite, the 30-year-old man who has long claimed to be the illegitimate son of music mogul Jay-Z, has officially withdrawn his federal lawsuit against the rapper. The unexpected move was confirmed by Rymir in a video message shared via Instagram on July 27, 2025.

In the video, Rymir clarified that the withdrawal does not signal an end to his legal campaign. “I did withdraw my case… there’s a lot going on behind closed doors. We got to step back and play chess, not checkers. I have not stopped my fight,” he said, hinting at a shift in legal strategy rather than surrender.

Rymir has consistently alleged that Jay-Z fathered him during the early 1990s, a claim the rapper and his legal team have categorically denied for years. Jay-Z’s lawyers have described Satterthwaite’s claims as “fabricated,” labelling them part of a “decades-long campaign of harassment.” They also argued in recent filings that the federal lawsuit, originally filed in May, was not properly served and that Jay-Z had no knowledge of it until weeks later.

According to Rymir, the lawsuit was never about financial support. Instead, he stated it was filed to seek justice for years of emotional trauma and reputational damage he claims to have suffered. Despite stepping back from the federal case, he emphasised that his pursuit of recognition and accountability is ongoing.

The high-profile legal battle has reignited debates online about paternity rights, the legal hurdles of establishing parentage after decades, and the burden of proof in such emotionally charged cases. While Jay-Z has remained largely silent on the matter publicly, his legal representatives maintain that the courts have already dealt with and dismissed the issue multiple times.

As it stands, Rymir’s fight for recognition continues just through different legal avenues.
