JD Vance Admits He Was Not Informed Before Trump Authorized Strikes on Iran
U.S. Vice President JD Vance has revealed that he was not briefed ahead of former President Donald Trump’s decision to launch airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Appearing on Meet the Press, Vance responded to questions about the military strikes by clarifying, “We’re not at war with Iran—we’re at war with Iran’s nuclear program.” He went on to claim that the operation had “destroyed the Iranian nuclear program,” a statement that many experts dispute as inaccurate.
Vance emphasized that the U.S. does not seek war but aims to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. “We want peace, but peace in a world where Iran doesn’t have a nuclear program,” he said, despite Iran’s longstanding denial of pursuing nuclear weapons.
When pressed about the timing of the decision to authorize the strikes, Vance appeared uncertain. “I don’t know that any of us knew exactly when the president made the decision, except the president himself,” he admitted. He added that the final call was made “last night.”
The remarks have sparked debate about transparency and internal communication within the U.S. administration regarding such high-stakes military decisions.
