“Junior Pope was provided life jacket but rejected it because it was dirty”– Adanma Luke
Adanma Luke, the producer of the film that Junior Pope was working on before the tragic incident, has made a statement alleging that the actor declined a life jacket that was offered to him prior to the boating accident in which he and three others lost their lives by drowning.
The incident occurred on the Anam River in Anambra State, as they were returning from filming the movie ‘The Other Side Of Life.’
Luke Adanma has faced criticism in the aftermath of the untimely death of Junior Pope and the others involved in the boat capsizing.
In her first public statement since the tragedy, Luke reports that she personally provided Junior Pope with a life jacket, which he refused because he found it to be unclean.
In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram account, Luke Adanma emphasized that she and other crew members were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident. She recalled that there was an additional life jacket available, but it remains unclear who ultimately made use of it.
“My producer manager said they saw life jackets hanging and they took them. He said he even asked the late Friday to take one to Junior Pope but Junior Pope said it was dirty so he didn’t take it.
“Those with life jackets survived the boat mishap. And they also told me that when they were in the water trying to survive, Junior Pope was also there asking, ‘Is everybody okay? Hope everybody is fine?’ They said they even threw a gallon to him to use and hold himself which he was holding but all of a sudden they didn’t see him again.
It was when they came out that they noticed that he was no longer there. They said divers came and reduced some of them while other divers were still there trying to rescue others.
“I said what could have caused this accident? They said they don’t know but TC was standing on the speed boat rigging bell.”
