“Justice Still Elusive: Ochanya Ogbanje’s Sister Speaks on Family’s Seven-Year Fight”
The elder sister of the late Ochanya Ogbanje has spoken out, renewing her family’s call for justice seven years after her sister’s tragic death.
In an interview with TVC, Ms. Ogbanje expressed frustration over repeated obstacles in the family’s quest for accountability. She revealed that her aunt, Felicia Ochiga-Ogbuja, who cared for Ochanya, continues to live with her husband, Mr. Andrew Ogbuja both accused of abusing Ochanya alongside their son, Victor Ogbuja.
While Andrew has been acquitted, Victor remains at large despite his whereabouts being known. Ms. Ogbanje called for his immediate arrest, expressing shock that pictures of him circulate online while authorities claim they cannot locate him.
Ochanya, 13, died in 2018 from complications linked to prolonged sexual abuse. She had lived with her aunt from the age of five and was allegedly abused from age eight. Felicia was sentenced to five months in prison for neglect, while Andrew was discharged for lack of evidence. Victor has evaded arrest since the incident.
The family continues to push for justice, emphasizing the need for accountability and protection for vulnerable children.
