Kachikwu Accuses Atiku of Plotting to Seize Control of ADC with Loyalists

Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has launched a scathing attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of attempting to hijack the ADC using a network of political loyalists.

Speaking at a press briefing, Kachikwu condemned Atiku’s alleged plans to contest the 2027 presidency under the ADC banner, claiming Atiku has consistently undermined power rotation and fairness particularly against the South.

He cited Atiku’s opposition to President Obasanjo’s second term, resistance to Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, and unwillingness to step aside after Buhari’s northern-led tenure.

Kachikwu dared Atiku to publicly support the idea of a southern presidency for the next six years if he truly believes in equity.

He also alleged that ₦20 million bribes are being offered to ADC state chairmen to step down and allow Atiku’s camp to take over the party, branding these actions as fraudulent and deceptive.

While distancing himself from any affiliation with President Tinubu, Kachikwu insisted he remains independent and reiterated that the ADC is not for sale.

“This is a war of the old for the old. It’s not our fight. The ADC stands for Nigerians and a new direction,” Kachikwu declared.

His remarks come amid increasing political realignment as the 2027 elections approach.
