Kaduna Governor Refutes Being El-Rufai’s Mentee
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has rejected claims that he is a political protégé of his predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
In an interview with TVC on Sunday, Governor Sani emphasized that his political guidance comes from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, not El-Rufai.
“I don’t think it is necessary for me to respond to that comment because for me, it is something I have no time to respond to,” he stated.
Sani acknowledged those who shaped his political journey, recalling his long-standing association with Tinubu since 1994 and describing Fawehinmi as a father figure during his formative years in activism.
El-Rufai had earlier referred to Sani as one of his mentees in a Channels Television interview, expressing pride in the many individuals he has mentored to success.
Responding to these remarks, Governor Sani stressed that he remains focused on governance and will not be sidetracked by personal comments. “If someone is speaking about me, I will not comment. My focus is Kaduna. I don’t get distracted; my eyes are on the ball,” he added.
Uba Sani previously served as El-Rufai’s political adviser from 2015 to 2019 and was endorsed by the former governor to succeed Shehu Sani as senator for Kaduna Central ahead of the 2019 elections.
