Kanye West Played Key Role in Popularizing Afrobeats Globally – D’banj

Nigerian singer D’banj has credited Kanye West with being the first international artist to embrace Afrobeats, paving the way for its global popularity.

According to D’banj, West’s interest in African music led to him signing D’banj and Don Jazzy to his record label, Good Music.

West’s cameo in D’banj’s 2012 hit song “Oliver Twist” further showcased his support for the genre, helping to take Afrobeats to the next level worldwide.
