Katsina LG Chairman Empowers 1,322 Residents, Distributes Cars to Councillors

The Chairman of Safana Local Government Area in Katsina State, Alhaji Abdullahi Sani, has handed out 10 vehicles to councillors and empowered 1,322 residents in a major initiative launched by Governor Dikko Radda.

The governor commended the chairman for what he described as “the best and most far-reaching empowerment initiative” he has witnessed across the local governments he has visited, praising the leadership and commitment to grassroots transformation.

According to Radda, the programme reflects how strengthened local government autonomy can deliver tangible benefits, promote self-reliance, and improve the economic foundations of local communities.

“This is what local government autonomy is meant to achieve: development that starts from the grassroots and directly transforms the lives of ordinary people. What Safana has done today is outstanding,” he said.

The empowerment exercise saw the distribution of items including sewing, grinding, and noodle-making machines, motorcycles, council buses, power tillers, tricycles for persons with disabilities, bags of flour, cash support for women, youths, and vulnerable groups, and vehicles for councillors and APC local government executives.

Chairman Sani expressed gratitude to the governor for supporting the initiative through the timely release of allocations, which made the empowerment exercise possible.
