Katsina Villagers Secure Release of Abductees After Capturing Bandits’ Families
In a daring move, villagers in Sabon Layi Babban Mutu, Katsina State, successfully secured the release of 30 residents kidnapped by armed bandits after a ransom of ₦100 million per person was demanded.
Eyewitnesses reported that the abductors held the villagers for several days while pressing the community for payment. Frustrated by the prolonged ordeal, the villagers reportedly retaliated by abducting the relatives of the bandits, warning that harm would come to them if the kidnapped residents were not released.
The standoff created intense tension in the community, but the strategy proved effective as all abducted villagers were freed without any ransom being paid. Reports further claimed that each released resident received ₦30,000 to cover transportation back home.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users expressing shock and debating the implications of the villagers’ actions. Some praised the residents for their bravery, while others cautioned about the potential dangers of taking justice into their own hands.
