Kwara Police Arrest Take-It-Back Movement Coordinator, Three Activists Over Protest Against Insecurity

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested the state coordinator of the Take-It-Back (TiB) Movement, Comrade Musa Tsaragi, along with three other activists during a peaceful protest in Ilorin. The demonstration was organized to call attention to the increasing cases of kidnappings and killings, particularly in Kwara South and the northern part of the state.

Sources revealed that the activists were detained on Thursday and subsequently taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further questioning.

The protest was part of a larger statewide campaign launched by the TiB Movement to demand urgent action from the government in addressing the escalating security challenges. The group had earlier announced the protest in a public statement signed by its state secretary, Olumoh Ismail.

In the statement, the TiB Movement condemned the rising wave of violent attacks in local government areas such as Edu and Patigi (Kwara North), and Ifelodun (Kwara South), noting that vast forest areas and highways have become strongholds for bandits and terrorist groups.

“It is no longer news that innocent people are being slaughtered in their homes and on the roads, yet no single perpetrator has been brought to justice,” the statement read.

The group urged residents of Kwara to unite and speak out against the worsening insecurity, adding that the peaceful protest was intended to pressure the government to act decisively in protecting lives and property.

The arrest of the protesters has sparked concern among human rights advocates, with calls for their immediate release and respect for the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
