Lady Replies a Man’s DM After Three Years — His Hilarious Response Breaks the Internet
Social media users have been left in stitches after a young lady shared the hilarious reaction she received when she finally responded to a man’s direct message three years after he first reached out.
In a viral post shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “POV: I opened one Instagram DM after 3 years,” the lady revealed that she decided to reply to a message she had ignored since 2022. According to her, the message, sent on January 30, 2022, simply read “Hi dear.” Out of curiosity, she decided to respond with a simple “Hi.”
To her surprise, about three hours later, the man replied with multiple laughter emojis followed by a witty comeback: “3 years reply… Me wey don marry 😂.”
The hilarious exchange quickly spread across social media, with thousands of users reacting to the man’s lighthearted response. Many found it both funny and painfully relatable, especially in an era where unread messages can sit for years before being noticed.
One user, Princewill Ibe, commented, “Finally getting a reply after three years is both hilarious and painfully relatable. Some conversations linger in limbo for years, only to resurface unexpectedly.”
Another user, BlgV, added humorously, “Lol 😂😂😂… how do people forget to check their DMs despite the notification showing on the top bar?”
Others used the opportunity to share their own stories of being ignored or left on read for long periods. One user recounted how he once messaged a woman on Facebook during university but never got a reply—only to later discover during NYSC that they had met in person and become friends without realizing their earlier online connection.
The post has since gone viral, gathering thousands of likes, shares, and funny reactions, as many social media users continue to joke about the importance of “timely replies” in the digital age.
