Lamido Backs ADC-Led Coalition, Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP
Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has thrown his weight behind the opposition coalition spearheaded by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at an empowerment event in Dutse, organized by Senator Mustapha Khabeeb (PDP, Jigawa South West), Lamido emphasized that the alliance of opposition forces under the ADC was aimed at rescuing Nigerians from the poor governance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Yes, I support the unification of the opposition through ADC,” Lamido declared. “But let it be known: I will never leave the PDP. I helped build this party with my sweat and soul. My role now is to guide and help Nigeria rediscover its path.”
The PDP elder statesman sharply criticized the APC governments at both state and federal levels, accusing them of failing the people across all sectors.
He commended PDP lawmakers in Jigawa for their service to the people, contrasting them with APC representatives whom he accused of pursuing self-interest.
In a symbolic show of unity, Lamido introduced Kabiru Hussaini, the Jigawa State ADC Chairman, to the PDP crowd, signaling growing collaboration among opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
Senator Mustapha Khabeeb echoed Lamido’s sentiments, recalling the transformative development witnessed during Lamido’s administration from 1999 to 2015. “Under Lamido, Jigawa thrived roads, schools, hospitals. Now, APC has brought nothing but hunger and despair,” he said.
Khabeeb highlighted his own empowerment projects, noting that over 3,000 constituents had benefitted in the current year alone. Equipment distributed included irrigation machines, solar units, rice threshers, grinding machines, and herbicides part of efforts to reduce poverty and promote self-reliance.
Meanwhile, the ADC has criticized the ruling APC and the federal government for what it called a “sudden display of grief” following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
