Lola Idije Opens Up on the Struggles of Single Motherhood: “Men Are Not Serious”
Veteran Yoruba actress, Lola Idije, has spoken candidly about the challenges of raising children alone, revealing that single parenting is one of the toughest battles a woman can face, especially in a society where support is limited.
She explained that many people fail to understand the heavy responsibilities of a single mother, from paying school fees to providing daily meals.
Friends and relatives often make promises but rarely follow through when it matters most.
Lola Idije also criticised men’s attitudes toward women, particularly actresses, noting that many men are unserious, sometimes betting on who can “win” a woman over.
She described the degrading mindset of some men who believe women can be bought for as little as ₦500,000, urging women to be careful with trust.
Despite these challenges, the actress highlighted the resilience and strength of single mothers, who continue to persevere for the well-being of their children.
She stressed that while society may judge women harshly, determination and faith help them overcome obstacles and raise their children successfully.
