Luis Enrique Targets Major PSG Rebuild with Seven Signings After Club World Cup Final Loss
Following a crushing 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final, Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is planning a massive squad overhaul this summer with up to seven new signings in the pipeline, including Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
According to L’Équipe, the PSG boss has identified key areas that need immediate reinforcements ahead of the new season. High on the list are two central defenders, with Bournemouth’s Illya Zabarnyi reportedly nearing a €60 million move to Paris. Another defender may be signed if Lucas Beraldo departs, amid Premier League interest.
The French champions are also seeking reinforcements at full-back, aiming to bolster depth behind Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.
While the midfield is expected to remain largely intact with Vitinha, João Neves, and Fabián Ruiz staying put, the club is pursuing a more seasoned midfielder. Their top choice, Joshua Kimmich, recently extended his stay at Bayern Munich, prompting PSG to consider alternative options.
In attack, PSG remain keen on bringing in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, although Galatasaray are still in pursuit of the Nigerian star. Talks are also ongoing with AC Milan over winger Rafael Leão.
The goalkeeper department remains stable unless Gianluigi Donnarumma exits — Manchester United are reportedly monitoring him, while Chelsea have ended their interest.
PSG’s pre-season kicks off in two weeks, with a UEFA Super Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur set for August 13.
