Man Stops Attending Church After Pastor Ibiyeomie’s Controversial Sermon
A Nigerian man, Chidiebere, has shared why he decided to stop attending church following a sermon by Pastor Ibiyeomie in Port Harcourt.
Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), Chidiebere recounted that during a Sunday service, the pastor commented on a civic protest he had attended, saying:
“While on evangelism, he saw poor people gathered in the name of protest.”
Feeling judged for his participation in a protest advocating for a better Nigeria, Chidiebere stood up, walked out, and never returned.
He explained that the pastor’s remarks clashed with his values and made it impossible to reconcile his faith with the judgment he felt from the sermon.
Chidiebere’s experience has resonated online, highlighting the tension many feel between religious commitment and civic engagement.
He concluded that staying true to one’s convictions is more important than attending a service that undermines them.
