Manchester City Set to Register Rodri for Champions League Knockouts Despite Injury

Manchester City has received encouraging news regarding midfielder Rodri, who is set to be included in the club’s 25-player squad for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

This decision comes despite Rodri’s ongoing recovery from a serious knee injury that has kept him sidelined since September.

Rodri, who underwent surgery for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, was initially expected to miss the entire season. However, his determination to return ahead of schedule has prompted manager Pep Guardiola to consider him for re-registration on February 6, when teams are allowed to make changes to their Champions League rosters.

The Spanish international’s potential return is particularly significant as City prepares for a challenging playoff tie against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. The team recently secured their place in the knockout stage following a comeback victory against Club Brugge.

Guardiola’s decision to include Rodri in the squad reflects the midfielder’s progress in rehabilitation and the impact his experience could have on City’s European ambitions. Alongside Rodri, new signings Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis will also be registered for the knockout phase.

As City gears up for a crucial Premier League clash against Arsenal this Sunday, the inclusion of Rodri could provide a much-needed boost as they aim for success on multiple fronts this season.
