Michigan Horror: Parents Face Murder Charges in Death of 22-Year-Old Pregnant Daughter
The chilling case of a missing Michigan woman has taken a disturbing turn as 22-year-old Rebecca Park’s biological mother and stepfather were arrested and charged in connection with her death.
Rebecca, who was 39 weeks pregnant, was discovered dead in the Huron-Manistee National Forest near her mother’s home in Boon Township on November 25. Her unborn child remains missing, deepening the mystery and intensifying the investigation.
The Michigan Department of Attorney General confirmed that Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and her husband Brad Bartholomew, 47, face multiple charges including first-degree murder, torture, and assault of a pregnant individual resulting in death. Brad also faces a habitual-offender notice, potentially carrying a life sentence.
During court proceedings, prosecuting attorney Johanna Carey revealed that the couple allegedly lured Rebecca to their home, forced her into a vehicle, and transported her to a wooded area, where the attack occurred before abandoning her body. Carey described the act as “frankly, evil personified.”
The case expanded when Rebecca’s half-sister, Kimberly Park, and her fiancé, Richard Lee Falor—a convicted sex offender were also arrested. Kimberly faces charges of evidence tampering and filing false reports, while Falor faces drug charges.
Investigators continue to search for Rebecca’s missing baby and are piecing together conflicting accounts of her last known movements, including visits to a hospital and alleged statements from family members. Prosecutors emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation, promising to present all evidence in court.
“This case involves a truly horrific homicide in which a young woman and her unborn child endured unimaginable suffering,” Carey said, highlighting the severity and brutality of the alleged crime.
