Mohbad’s In-Law Accuses VeryDarkMan of Shielding Naira Marley, Reacts Strongly to Viral Interview
The controversy surrounding the death of Nigerian artist Mohbad has taken a new turn following a passionate response from his sister-in-law, Karimot Ogunbayo, to a recent interview conducted by social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) featuring the singer’s close friend, Dominica.
In the trending interview, Dominica disclosed troubling details about Mohbad’s life prior to his passing in September 2023. She spoke about his alleged drug use, his encounter with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and his relationships with those close to him including his wife Wunmi and fellow musician Bella Shmurda.
However, Karimot has accused VDM of deliberately focusing on Mohbad’s flaws while deflecting attention from individuals like Naira Marley and Sam Larry, who have been widely mentioned in discussions around the late artist’s troubled final months.
One contentious point was Dominica’s claim that Wunmi allegedly contacted Naira Marley to accuse Bella Shmurda of introducing Mohbad to a drug known as “ICE.” Karimot warned that such claims could damage the trust between Wunmi and Bella especially since Bella has shown public support for Wunmi since Mohbad’s death.
“Dominica said Wunmi called Naira to say Bella was giving Mohbad ICE. That kind of statement can destroy the bond between them. Bella has been standing by Wunmi, but that’s their business. I won’t stand with Wunmi my loyalty is with Mohbad,” Karimot said.
She also criticized VDM’s approach during the interview, alleging that he continuously pressed on Mohbad’s alleged drug use without questioning Sam Larry or Primeboy on their own behavior.
“You kept asking if Mohbad did drugs. Tell me, which hip-hop artist doesn’t? Even gospel singers do. But you never asked Sam Larry or Primeboy if they take drugs.”
Karimot further condemned Mohbad’s parents for remaining silent during critical moments when their son was reportedly assaulted.
The interview and Karimot’s reaction have sparked widespread discussion online, with many social media users weighing in on the growing tension.
