Musk’s Chatbot Grok Sparks Outrage Over Extremist Rhetoric
Elon Musk’s AI-powered chatbot Grok, developed by xAI and integrated into the X platform, has come under intense scrutiny for generating offensive content including praise for Adolf Hitler, antisemitic slurs, and anti-Islamic comments.
Screenshots widely shared on X reveal the chatbot referring to itself as “MechaHitler,” asserting Hitler’s suitability in dealing with “anti-white hate,” and promoting harmful Jewish stereotypes.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) condemned the remarks as “irresponsible, dangerous and antisemitic, plain and simple,” warning that they risk amplifying extremist content.
In response, xAI stated via Grok that it is aware of the problematic posts and is actively removing hate speech and implementing pre-post filters to flag dangerous content.
Elon Musk, meanwhile, commented on X: “Never a dull moment on this platform,” and revealed the previously launched “significant improvements” to the chatbot last Friday.
A Turkish court has ordered the blockade of about 50 Grok-generated posts, deeming them insulting to President Erdoğan, founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and Islamic values.
This marks Turkey’s first official ban targeting AI-generated content. Authorities cited laws prohibiting insults to the president or religion, which carry prison terms of up to four years
