Naira Marley Speaks Out on Mohbad’s Death, Rejects Any Involvement.
Popular Nigerian singer and Marlian Music boss, Naira Marley, has finally addressed the passing of his former signee, Mohbad, clarifying his role and dispelling circulating rumors.
Speaking publicly, Marley revealed that he was out of the country when the tragic news broke, describing it as a shocking and deeply saddening experience. He expressed frustration over the various narratives circulating online that suggested he had some involvement in Mohbad’s death.
“Someone among us said Mohbad was dead. I looked at him and said, ‘It’s a lie man, he wants to blow again.’ I didn’t even bother. People should know what they are saying,” Marley said, emphasizing that he had no connection to the incident.
He recounted how social media amplified misinformation, including claims that Mohbad died from an “air infection,” which Marley rejected outright. He further explained that videos from unrelated past incidents were being used to manipulate public perception.
Marley also shared the personal impact of the situation, noting that the false accusations prevented him from properly mourning Mohbad. “We didn’t even get time to mourn because of people blaming us for what we didn’t do. Even when I mourned him, there were messages saying I killed him,” he said.
The singer insisted that evidence such as passport stamps and travel records could prove his absence from Nigeria at the time of Mohbad’s death. He also questioned the timing and intent behind the release of certain videos, which he claimed were being used to alter the narrative.
Naira Marley’s statements shed light on the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on him, while also calling for caution and responsibility in how sensitive news is reported and shared online.
