Napoli Targets Tolu Arokodare as Replacement for Injured Romelu Lukaku

Napoli are closely monitoring Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare as a potential replacement should Romelu Lukaku’s thigh injury sideline him for an extended period.

The 24-year-old Genk forward has been on Napoli’s radar since early July, even before Lukaku’s setback, and is seen as a natural successor to the Belgian striker due to their similar playing styles.

While other names, such as Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and Roma’s Artem Dovbyk, have surfaced in transfer discussions, Arokodare remains a standout candidate for Antonio Conte’s squad.

Arokodare enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 season, scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. Signed from Amiens for €5 million in January 2023, he has developed into a key figure at KRC Genk, attracting attention for his physical presence and consistent goal-scoring ability.

Napoli are awaiting an update on Lukaku’s medical status before making a final decision, but Arokodare is currently the favourite on their shortlist should the club need to enter the transfer market.
