Nationwide Fuel Delivery: Dangote Refinery Receives Initial Shipment of CNG Trucks

Dangote Refinery has received its first shipment of compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to support the nationwide distribution of premium motor spirit and automotive gas oil, starting August 15, 2025.

The 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery announced this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Anthony Chijiena, on Sunday.

According to Chijiena, this N720 billion investment aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s fuel distribution system by lowering logistics costs and improving supply efficiency for consumers.

“The fleet of fuel tankers, imported through Apapa Port, represents a significant capital outlay valued at N720 billion.

“The first consignment recently arrived at the refinery site in Ibeju-Lekki and was officially received by Devakumar Edwin, Vice-President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Ltd.,” the statement added.

Dangote Refinery had earlier revealed that this fuel distribution initiative would bring significant changes to the country’s downstream oil and gas sector.

However, petroleum product retail outlet owners and the Natural Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) have expressed concerns about the scheme in various forums, warning that it could lead to widespread job losses.
