NCAA Demands Prosecution of K1 De Ultimate Over ValueJet Flight Incident
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to investigate and prosecute popular Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal known as K1 De Ultimate following an incident involving domestic airline ValueJet on August 5, 2025.
The incident occurred when K1 De Ultimate,\ reportedly carrying a flask suspected to contain alcohol onboard a ValueJet flight VK201 was removed from the plane but subsequently attempted to block the aircraft from taxiing for takeoff at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.
His conduct was deemed a breach of aviation safety protocols and standard operational procedures raising significant concerns about passenger behavior and airport safety.
In response, NCAA called for a thorough criminal investigation and for appropriate prosecution in line with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 and other applicable laws.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo has issued an advisory urging Airline Operators of Nigeria to place K1 De Ultimate on a No-Fly List pending the outcome of official investigations a measure supported by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo.
Keyamo described the incident as a dangerous situation that could have led to serious fatalities comparing K1’s actions to a “hostage situation” because he physically blocked the plane’s movement on the tarmac.
The NCAA emphasized that aviation safety rules apply to everyone, regardless of status or public image, affirming their commitment to uphold the law strictly.
The incident has also led to the suspension of two Value Jet pilots who commenced departure procedures in violation of mandatory pre-departure clearance protocols amid the disturbance caused by K1 De Ultimate.
