Ned Nwoko Clarifies: Married Regina Daniels at 19, Not 17, Claims Mother Personally Gave Her Away
Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed ongoing controversies surrounding the age of his wife, actress Regina Daniels, at the time of their marriage. In a statement released by his office, Nwoko insisted that Regina was 19 years old, not 17, when they tied the knot.
“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married for six years, that means she got married at 19 years old, not 17.
The public witnessed her family giving her away in marriage, and there were witnesses to the fact that her mother personally brought her to me,” the senator stated. He added that their marriage was conducted openly, in line with tradition, and that he has treated her with dignity and respect throughout.
Nwoko also lamented that political opponents have exploited his marriage for personal attacks, calling it a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation and hinder his developmental efforts as a senator. “Regina has become a weak point through which my political and personal enemies are attacking me,” he noted.
The senator addressed false narratives about Regina’s past, including her struggles with substance use and health challenges, emphasizing that any claims circulating online are fabricated and defamatory.
“All the current stories being circulated are fabricated and amount to criminal defamation, and those behind this smear campaign will have their day to prove their claims,” he warned.
Nwoko concluded by reiterating that their marriage has always been public and transparent, highlighting his commitment to honouring his wife according to tradition.
