Newcastle Intensify Pursuit of Sesko Amid Isak Exit Talks, Face Wissa Setback
Newcastle United have stepped up their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as doubts grow over the future of their star forward Alexander Isak. With Liverpool reportedly preparing a £150 million bid for Isak, the Magpies are actively searching for a top-quality replacement.
According to Sky Sports Germany, the club has initiated discussions with Sesko’s camp, although no formal agreement has been reached. The 22-year-old Slovenian international, who scored 21 goals last season, is valued at approximately €80 million (£69.5 million).
Simultaneously, Newcastle are eyeing Brentford’s Yoane Wissa as an additional attacking option. However, The i reports that Brentford are unwilling to release Wissa without first securing a replacement. The Bees have reportedly identified Celtic’s Daizen Maeda as a potential successor, though talks remain inconclusive.
Wissa, who netted 19 goals last season, is valued at £30 million. Brentford are already dealing with the departure of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United and are reluctant to lose another key attacker.
Newcastle’s transfer strategy now hinges on the outcome of Isak’s situation. If he departs for Anfield, expect swift movement in the club’s pursuit of both Sesko and Wissa.
