“Nigeria don tire me” — Charly Boy begs Tinubu for action, apologises for past criticism amid growing insecurity
Nigerian musician and activist Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has reached out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pleading for urgent action to address the worsening insecurity and hardship across the country.
In an emotional post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Charly Boy admitted he was exhausted by Nigeria’s situation and asked the President for forgiveness if his past remarks ever came across as insults.
He wrote, “I’m tired. If I ever insulted you, Mr President, please forgive me. I’m only a frustrated Nigerian who still believes this country can do far better than it’s doing. Our youths deserve a new Nigeria that gives them hope.”
The veteran entertainer said Nigerians have spent years crying out for change while living under the weight of insecurity, hunger, and corruption.
“For decades, we’ve shouted, protested, and begged yet things keep getting worse. Every day people are dying, and those in power only seem concerned about their own comfort,” he lamented.
Charly Boy expressed worry about the rising death rate and constant reports of killings, kidnappings, and economic hardship.
He said Nigerians have reached their breaking point and that the government’s promises are no longer enough.
“We’ve begged for peace, for safety, for a life that makes sense — but our pain keeps getting ignored. The time to act is not tomorrow, not next week, but now,” he declared.
Reacting to a recent viral comment by U.S. President Donald Trump on Nigeria’s situation, Charly Boy questioned why it takes outsiders to draw attention to the country’s problems.
“So it takes one tweet from Trump for the world to notice our suffering? Do we need foreigners to validate our pain before we act?” he asked.
