Nigeria Mourns Gen. Mohammed Abdullahi, Ex-Chief of Staff to Obasanjo and Yar’Adua

General Mohammed Abdullahi, former Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, has passed away at the age of 86.

A respected son of the Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, the retired military officer reportedly died in the early hours of Wednesday.

While official confirmation from his family is pending, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has issued a condolence message mourning the loss of the distinguished Nigerian.

In a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir described General Abdullahi as “a proud indigene of Ilorin Emirate and a distinguished Nigerian who used his positions, influence, and resources to promote national unity and humanity.”

He further lauded Abdullahi as a “patriotic and detribalised Nigerian whose contributions to national development knew no bounds.”

The Emir extended his sympathies to Abdullahi’s family, the governments of Kwara and Plateau States, and the Federal Government, praying for Allah’s mercy on his soul and for him to be granted Aljannah Firdaus.
